His father being of the Quincey decent and his mother a Shinigami, Tetsuya Yasuhiro was doomed to be a mockery. After the decay of the Quincey race, Tetsuya was restless to do something with life and decided, against his mother's wishes, that he'd try and join the Gotei 13. After many attempts and failures, Tetsuya was finally noticed by the Head Captain Commander herself; Kyofuhime Kagesakura. Using her power and influence, Kyofuhime convinced the Central 42 that Tetsuya could be a potential asset to the Seireitei, allowing Tetsuya to join the academy and learn how to be a shinigami like all of the other souls. Tetsuya was quickly bored with the Academy and nearly left it, thinking that he could better kill hollows on his own without the shinigami's help. But his mother strongly fought against his decisions to leave the academy because after some time training him she learned that his Quincey Powers weren't like that of the regular Quincey. His powers glowed red and instead of erasing hollows, they purified them. They acted like a zanpakuto. One night as he and his mother argued about his leaving, their conversation was interrupted by an unknown assailant striking and killing Tetsuya's mother. Swearing vengeance, Tetsuya knew that his only option was to join the Gotei 13 and use their resources to find his mother's murderer. Against all odds, and probably thanks to the Head Captain, Tetsuya excelled in the acdemy and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming only the third person to take the coat of Captain in Squad 7. Tetsuya has been apart of the Gotei 13 for nearly 800 years. Over the past 30 years Tetsuya has been on a secret mission observing Tenma Kirin, but the last couple weeks, Kyofuhime has been unable to contact him from the World of the Living via Hell Butterflies and has sent fellow Captain Akuhei of Squad 2 to search for and retrieve Tetsuya Yasuhiro.
